Meet Dan Harris, Brian Wick, Shauna Chandler & Kate Nel

Dan Harris and Brian Wick have owned their shop since 1983, and after all of these years, Harris & Wick Goldsmiths is something of a fixture in Prince Rupert. In fact, Dan notes, he and business partner Brian Wick are now making jewellery for the children of some of the shop's earliest clients. The shop's longevity and their reputation for quality work is something that the pair is proud of. "Some of our staff and clients keep coming back even after they have moved to different locations," notes Dan.

Dan and Brian feel humbled and privileged to be able to provide their services to the people of Prince Rupert. "They are great people," says Dan. Being such a small and close-knit community allows Brian and Dan the ease of getting to know their customers more personally and, ultimately, to be able to offer them better, more customized services and products.

Dan and Brian point out that this business wouldn’t be as successful or complete without the sales team of Kate Nel and Shauna Chandler. "The ladies keep us current and vital," says Dan. "Social media, style trends and the overall look of the shop sits squarely on their shoulders and they do an amazing job of it all." They have also taken up the role of helping clients design custom pieces. "The 32 years we’ve been in business, no two ladies have ever learned so fast and have been so good at helping us achieve our vision. We are great friends and we love them like family."

In fact, Brian and Dan believe that Prince Rupert has a great deal going for it when it comes to both community and small business. "What's not to love?" asks Dan. After all, it is located in a beautiful setting and affords a reasonable cost of living. It is alive with culture and things to do and participate in, like its many community groups, clubs and regular events, great restaurants and live performances. It has everything in the way of essential services and availability of goods. With so much to offer, Brian and Dan feel that Prince Rupert has a strong future ahead of it.
