Meet Karen Haynes
Meet Karen Haynes
Karen Haynes is an independent spirit and always dreamed of owning and operating her own business. Her venture into small business began when she started selling re-manufactured toner and ink cartridges door to door. It quickly became evident to Karen that Prince Rupert residents and business owners needed greater and easier local access to quality office supplies. By 2000, Karen obtained retail space and opened a full-fledged office supplies store. It has grown steadily since then, prompting a move to a bigger location in 2007, and Karen is thrilled with its success and grateful to her regular local customers who have been so supportive throughout the years. She considers it a privilege to help people find solutions or product that fits their needs, even when that means getting called at home in an emergency when the store is closed.
Karen was born in Prince Rupert and feels deeply connected to the community. Connections are easy to make here, she notes. She meets a lot of people through her business, but even on the streets and sidewalks, people take the time to make connections. "People smile and say hello all around town, even if you don't know them," says Karen. It is one of the best parts of Prince Rupert living, although the amazing outdoors is pretty great too. Add to it the fact that you can find everything you want or need, including the fabulous waterfront trail, all within minutes of anywhere in town, and it makes for a wonderful quality of life.
Karen is a grandparent who loves spending her time outside of work with her kids and grandchildren. Cooking and baking are also big hobbies of Karen's, and rumor has it that, if you happen to come into the store at just the right time, you might get to sample some of her home-made goodies.
